SEO
I am an avid study of search engine optimization strategies and tactics (one has to pretty much be a daily study!). To me, SEO is actually common sense, if you think like a search engine. I explain to people that SEO is like writing a research paper: content is meaningful, organized and importance is given to headings, important words, titles and references. One can see how truly simple it is when looking at a side by side comparison:
| Web Site | Research Paper |
|---|---|
| Title Tag | Title Page |
| Navigation | Table of contents |
| Headings | Headings |
| Sub-headings | sub-headings |
| bold, italics | bold/italics |
| duplicate content | why would you? |
| Site Map | Index |
| Inbound links | Footnotes, appendices |
Of course, keyword research, structure and writing to target a variety of search terms involves thinking and strategy; I don’t mean to say SEO is easy, because it’s not.
